This webinar is organised by the members of the IWA Digital Water Programme‘s Steering Committee.

In this webinar, we’ll explore how digital transformation and digital water have influenced the water industry over the years, though their adoption has varied across regions. The water sector faces a range of challenges globally, yet these challenges are united by a common objective: achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which seeks to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” Unfortunately, progress toward this goal has been slow, with the UN reporting in 2021 that efforts need to accelerate fourfold to meet the SDG 6 target by 2030.

In this session, we will delve into real-world case studies to examine how Digital Water concepts have been successfully applied across the global water industry. We will explore the tangible benefits these solutions have delivered, from improving network and asset management to bolstering environmental resilience. By looking at different approaches, we aim to showcase how digital tools help the industry monitor performance, guide necessary actions, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency through optimised operations and asset management, and minimise the environmental impact of water management.

These global case studies will demonstrate the diverse ways Digital Water has been implemented and the valuable lessons we can learn to drive further progress in the sector.
